Welcome to the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, where the world'sfirst journalism school was established in 1908. MU is the largest universityin Missouri and was the first public institution of higher educationestablished west of the Mississippi River. Each year, approximately 35,000students enroll. More and more each year, the student body includes studentsfrom ethnically diverse, out-of-state, and low-income backgrounds. Studentslove the Francis Quadrangle, home of the famous columns that withstood a violentfire that burned down the Academic Hall in 1892.
