Nova Southeastern University

In 1964, Nova SoutheasternUniversity was built on what was previously a naval training airfield near FortLauderdale during WWII, because the land had been designated for educationpurposes only. Today, it is one of the largest, private research universitiesin the nation. They are also home to America's largest coral reef researchcenter, making them a leader in marine science in America and around the world.Entrance into the university is extremely selective with less that 50% of theirapplicants admitted, but they are still considered to by the US Department ofEducation to be the most diverse university in the country. Nova has anenrollment of approximately 28,000, but over 22,000 are pursuing postgraduatedegrees. Their undergraduates are part of the Sunshine State Conference forNCAA Division II athletics.
