Greenville is a great city with a lot of natural beauty. It’s one of those places where you can really enjoy the four seasons of the year. Participants put their sweat and blood into their creations, showcasing things such as robots, racecars, 3D printing, hovercrafts, drones, and more! One thing’s for sure—these rare and fascinating items should not be left lying around unattended. Given that people are coming from all over South Carolina, and the U.S., there is definitely a need for storage units for the hosts and participants of this festival. The weeklong event entails a lot of preparation, so storage facilities in the vicinity are quick to fill up in March. Participants who are looking to store their things in the days leading up to and during the event will also be trying to find the sites that are most secure so their inventions do not attract the wrong crowd. If you want to store your skis for the summer, do so earlier in the year or you may have to wait until this event is over.

Next in line is the annual Greek Festival that is a four-day event that takes place in mid-May. The festival is made up of all things Greek: live Greek music, great Greek food, and Greek dancing. Some Greek food you can look forward to includes gyros, saganki, souvlaki, and a bunch of other things we don’t know how to pronounce! Either way, you’ll find dozens of food vendors with authentic Greek food for you to indulge in. As for entertainment, you can expect to hear Bouzouki music and see traditional folk dancing. There’s also a marketplace in which you will find vendors selling Greek imports such as jewelry, clothing, paintings, bronze statues, and authentic groceries. Do you feel like you’re in Greece yet? To top it all off, there’s also a place for your kids to have fun—the Carnival Playland Corner, an area where the entire family can get their faces painted and do a bunch of other activities.
So what exactly does this mean for storage? Well, there are a lot of road closures that take place for this event, so you’ll need to know how to get around them. However, we would recommend opting to store in a facility that allows for 24-hour access to your unit. When you take into account traffic in Greenville plus the events that take place throughout the year, it makes more sense to avoid the whole thing and go to get your stuff later at night. Also, be aware that storage facilities will be packed before and during this event. With everything that will be at the event, the vendors and hosts need a place to keep their things, especially with May being such a hot month. Say bye to climate controlled units in the area!
End of the Year Events and Some More Traffic
Towards the end of the year, the events slow down a bit in preparation for the holidays. Fall for Greenville is the biggest event that takes place after the summer. It’s a three-day music and food-street festival that takes place in the beginning of October. You’ll be entertained by over 60 performers and can choose from food of 38 vendors. There’s also a wine street in which wine vendors will be lined up to help you find wines that fit your preferences, and you’ll be able to discover wines from around the world. If you’re more of a beer fan, you’ll also find 20 different breweries offering over 35 different beers. Needless to say, the streets will be packed during this event, and so will storage units. Watch out for road closures and try to plan around the event as best you can.
With so many events going on and rush hour traffic taking up at least five hours of the day (6:30AM-9:30AM and 5PM-7PM), it can be hard to get to your storage unit.
